Sometimes community is talking.
Sometimes community is sitting quietly in the same room while everyone does their own thing.
The Parallel Play Zone (PPZ) is AOG’s new virtual community space built for exactly that feeling.
The PPZ is a low-pressure online environment designed especially for Autistic and neurodivergent people who want connection without the expectations that usually come with social spaces.
No pressure to perform.
No pressure to speak.
No pressure to be “on.”
Just a place to exist nearby.
What is the PPZ?
The PPZ is a virtual world made up of different themed rooms that people can move through together using customizable avatars.
Inside, you can:
- Sit quietly in the Lounge
- Focus alongside others in the Focus Room
- Relax in the Breathing Room
- Listen together in the Music Room
- Draw in the Art Room
- Watch videos in the Theater Room
- Visit the Rooftop Garden
- Play games together
- Or simply wander around and exist nearby
Some people may come to socialize.
Others may just keep it open in another tab while doing something else.
Both are valid.

Built around parallel play
Many neurodivergent people connect best through parallel play — being near each other while engaging in separate or loosely shared activities.
The PPZ is intentionally designed around that idea.
You can interact actively, quietly observe, stim while moving around the space, sit silently next to someone, or disappear into a quieter room whenever you need to.
Being present counts.
AOG is building this differently
The PPZ was created with flexibility, autonomy, sensory needs, and low-pressure participation in mind.
Features include:
- Adjustable sensory settings
- Quiet spaces
- Body-doubling rooms
- Shared media spaces
- Optional chat and direct messaging
- Avatar customization
- Emotes and status signals
- Community-created spaces and activities
And because this is an AOG project, it will continue evolving alongside the community itself.
Some features are polished.
Some are experimental.
Some may occasionally act a little weird.
That’s okay.
We’re building this together.

How to join
Access to the PPZ requires a free MyAOG account.
This helps us keep the space more intentional, more community-focused, and less fully public.

You do not need to know what to say.
You do not need to know anyone already.
You do not need to participate “correctly.”
Come wander.
Come sit quietly.
Come explore.
Come exist nearby.
We’d love to have you there.
