This session is a declassified briefing on how harmful systems show up in everyday life—and what to do about it. We define key concepts in plain language (ableism, anti-ableism, allyship vs. accomplice, intersectionality, cultural normativity, norm enforcement, and “building the closet”).
We connect these ideas to lived experience through the Minority Stress Model and the identity vs. expression distinction, then translate it into practical behaviors: inclusive messaging, recovering from mistakes without spectacle, advocating with consent, and using your power to build safer environments now and build ramps for people you may not see yet.
